Lift out panel, Wednesday, January 26th.

On this blog is a photo showing the almost finished panel. What you see in the photo took perhaps three days of spare time. Today I added another layer of EnviroTex to the "pond". This compound sets up in 4 to 6 hours and dries hard & clear. I've used this product before for modelling water, and am very happy with it.

The minature pine trees were made by cutting the tops off of larger trees!. In trying to simulate distance, objects must be shrunken. Most of these trees were less than a half inch tall!.

The house and autos seen are closer to 'Z' scale, a scale that's approximately 80% the size of 'N'.

The rest of the greenery are common every day products from Woodland Scenics.

Soon I hope to have a photo of this panel installed on the layout. Stay tuned.

Here's a picture of the lift out panel. It's just about done, just a few more scenic details to add. Today I added a few more pine trees, as well as giving the pond another "coat" of water. Posted by Hello

My Winter Project

Project continues. The wood panel insert is partially landscaped. It was almost done, but I was unhappy with it, so I plan on re-doing some of it today.

The way it's going, this project will complete on time (not to go past February). And once it's done, the north-east corner will have a new look, as well as an access panel for maintenance.

I'll post some photos when it's all done.

Well here is the start of my "winter project". This huge cavity was not terrorism, but an act of "me". This was a tunneled over area that concealed some flaky track work from when the layout was first built. I'll be making a "trap door" (fully detailed) that will allow me access in case of trouble running a train thru. Additional photos will follow as the work progresses. Posted by Hello
